Why is it important to back up your computer?

Craig Atkins • March 22, 2024

World Backup Day is just around the corner so we thought we'd share a few reasons why backing up your computers regularly is so important.

Data Protection

By regularly backing up your computers, you safeguard against data loss in the event of hardware failure, theft or even cyber attacks. Therefore your critical information remains intact if the worst were to happen.

Business Continuity

Following on from data protection, backups enable fast recovery of data if there was a system failure or disaster. Ultimately this would help minimise your downtime and maintain operational continuity.

Compliance Requirements

May industries have regulatory mandates that make data backups necessary to comply with data protection and privacy regulations. By backing up your data often, you can help reduce the risk of breaching these regulations.

Ransomware Defence

In the event of a ransomware attack, having a backup of your data allows your business to restore clean copies of the data, reducing the impact of extortion attempts.

Peace of Mind

With backups in place, users (and business owners) can rest assured knowing their important files and data are safe. This helps to reduce the stress and anxiety associated with potential data loss.

Did you know...

As standard in all our IT Support Packages, we offer management of existing backups on servers (USB/Tape/Cloud), as well as monitoring and remediating backup failures. We also run E-mail and SharePoint backups by having daily snapshots of Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. This way you can relax knowing your backups are taken care of.
