Celebrating International Women's Day

Jess Dugdale • March 8, 2024

This year we went all out to celebrate International Women's Day, with our first Women in Business event yesterday at the Thames Lido.

A large group of people are sitting in chairs in front of a projector screen.

This year we were fortunate to be joined by around 50 incredible businesswomen to celebrate International Women's Day. Our event, hosted at Thames Lido, featured inspiring speakers from different working backgrounds to share their stories with us - all whilst raising money for Smart Works Reading.

Smart Works Reading is a local charity who help women get back into work through interview coaching and dressing appointments. Since opening in 2015, Smart Works Reading has helped 1780 women across Berkshire ahead of their interviews. A whopping 69% of their clients get the job within a month of their appointments. We are so pleased to announce that our event raised £856 for the charity, thanks to our amazing guests and raffle donations.

The feedback we have received already from the event has been so heart-warming and we are so pleased we were able to create an environment free of judgement where women could support one another. Fingers crossed we can make this an annual tradition!
